Man Down!

Man Down!

It has attracted many men.

Initially, with the promise of land, freedom and gold.

The promise now is similar, but we call it fortune and fame.

Still many have headed west in search of something more. Some find it, and some find that they already had it all along.

Well, this year the temptress that is California claims one of our very own. One Mr. Justin Stanfield. That’s right, the kid with the so-so face and the hot wife is headed to tinsel town.

Over the years Justin has not just proven his value to River Glass Designs, the company, but even more so to River Glass Designs, the family. We all love him and will miss him more than he knows. We anxiously await his return…In fact I’ve been dreaming about it… I can see it as clear as day…

…We’re racing thru opposite ends of the forest, until we both come to a clearing. Our eyes meet from across the meadow and we begin racing toward each other. The distance is small but, it seemingly takes a lifetime to close the gap between us. Our hands finally touch and we dance in circles, knowing true happiness in that instance. Then I immediately begin to have a massive asthma attack, since I have no business running and dancing in a field filled with flowers. And as the pollen begins to fill my lungs, I take my last breath…

But wait! A small glowing finger touches me and once again I began to breath. Completely reinvigorated, I high five the little brown alien who has just saved my life. Then he tells me to phone home…and I say to him: “I will phone home my friend…I will phone home…

Don’t Go In The Water….Again!

Dont Go In The Water....Again!

Yesterday marked the end of July, the end of the hottest month ever for those reading this. But yesterday wasn’t about endings, no, it was about beginnings.  Yes my good friends, last night at 9:00pm eastern time we began one of the greatest weeks known to modern man. Shark Week! Hopefully you didn’t miss out. Now we mentioned this last year, and there was some confusion as to how this relates to River Glass Designs or frameless showers or mirrors or to glass in general. This year I came prepared for your cynicism.

Ahem, well as you all know there are many species of sharks. There are mako sharks, nurse sharks, whale sharks, tiger sharks, bull sharks, blue sharks and the list goes on and on and on…that might be one too many on’s…

But despite the large variety in sharks, only one continues to capture our imaginations and successfully captivates us time after time…The Great White! It is without a doubt the definitive representation of what a shark should be.

Now there are all types of glass companies, but only one can be the Great White! You know what I’m sayin? You know what I’m sayin…

…I was uh…I was uh, implying it was um…us…that River Glass Designs was the uh…the Great… Whi..t…e.

Moving along…another thing you may find interesting is that Great Whites eat seals and here at River Glass Designs, we put seals on our frameless showers…oh yeah!  Do I really need to continue? Ok fine I will.

Umm…Umm…Ok, Ok, I got it! Great white sharks are commonly found of the coasts of South Africa, California, Australia and the Eastern coast of the United States…

…My grandfather was born IN South Africa, Gary’s family lives IN California, I’ve seen Crocodile Dundee about a thousand times and the real kicker, River Glass Designs is found on the Eastern Coastish Area…sort of…

Still not convinced?!

Alright I see how it is, I didn’t want to have to do this but, now I’ve gotta pull out the big guns…

A Great White Shark is gray, and white and swims in the blue ocean…take a look at our logo and color scheme…gray and white and, come on say it with me….blue. BAM! Take THAT haters! I thought I told you that we won’t stop; I thought I told you that we won’t stop!

Happy Shark Week Everyone! SHARK WEEK!

I know what you’re thinking - “Here we go! He’s gonna start trying to convince us that we need cast glass tops, or counters, or breakfast buffets!”

WRONG!

Most of you gentlepeople don’t need those things. You probably already have plenty of tables in your home…

Wooden tables…Buncha lumber jack lovers!

In fact, I bet your dining room table’s made of wood, your kitchen table’s made of wood, your nightstand’s are made of wood and your desk too.

What’re you trying to recreate the forest?!

Wood! Soft, easily scratched, ruined forever, wood! You probably make everyone use coasters for their drinks. How FUN for your family and friends…

In all honesty, the majority of the most beautiful furniture is wood. Whether it’s handmade or mass produced. Unfortunately wood can be a very sensitive surface and many people are looking for ways to keep it looking new.

River Glass Designs can help. We can custom cut, beautiful, inconspicuous , 1/4″ glass tops, designed to protect your precious wood without detracting from the overall look of the piece or design of the room.

Whatever shape, whatever size, we can fabricate your protective glass top right here at River Glass Designs.

Good-bye Coasters – Hello Freedom!

…You guys keep lobbin me life’s problems and I keep knockin ‘em outta the park!

Inception

Monday, July 19th, 2010

InceptionThis weekend I saw Inception. It was an amazing, mind-bending, intellectual thriller. A truly unique movie that was brilliantly executed. But what was really eye catching was the frameless shower.

The what!? Yeah, that’s right the frameless shower. When everyone goes into the second level dream, they end up in some swanky hotel. At one point they enter one of the rooms and very clearly in the background is a beautiful frameless shower, that they show at least twice. Did River Glass Designs install that particular shower…Maybe we did and maybe we didn’t. We didn’t. But we could have if someone had asked nicely, I’m looking at you DiCaprio!

Now if you want the same shower featured in, what is so far, the years best film just give us a call. I’m sure you’ve been wanting to call us for awhile now anyway… In fact this is all your idea… Isn’t it!?

BAM!!! You’ve just been incepted…

Front Row…

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Front Row...Front Row...Last Night I went to see Mary Poppins  the Musical at the Kennedy Center and I had front row seats. And when I say front row seats, I mean there was me, then the orchestra and then the stage. FRONT ROW! The only bad thing is that I was there to see Mary Poppins the Musical. However, in all seriousness, it was quite good. But what really caught my attention was something I saw during intermission. All the glass bar tops were exactly like some of the glass bar tops we create right here at River Glass Designs. I then thought about you, all of our loyal readers and potential clients. I began thinking you could have the elegance of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, right in your own home.  Just think what a conversation piece it would be…

“Why Cordelia, what a lovely bar top!”

“Oh Thank You Hillary! It’s the same as the ones in the Kennedy Center. I told Charles we absolutely must have them, especially since we put in the Amphitheater.”

Hmmmm. An amphitheater – that sounds pretty AWESOME!

If anyone good comes to play- like Elmo & Friends  or Power Rangers Live – don’t forget your old friend Christian. And I want front row seats. And when I say front row seats I mean,  there’s me, then the orchestra and then the stage…
