A World Without Borders

Borders is going out of business. Not those invisible little lines that divide land and create social disorder, no I’m referring to the book stores. In fact if you head over to a Borders store you’re likely to see giant signs advertising that “Everything’s on sale 40 to 60 percent off.”
Sounds great right?! Well not for Borders, but for us…Yahtzee! So off I went, and as I began browsing I realized something sinister was afoot. Borders didn’t actually want to sell me their merchandise. And not just me, they didn’t want to sell it to anyone! They wanted to keep it for themselves. Now no one came out and said it, but I could tell.
How? Well items that would normally cost you$ 10, $15 or even $20 at any other store were $40 to $50 dollars at Borders. In fact I left there and went to Target and found a DVD for $9.99, the exact and I mean exact same DVD was at Borders for $39.99! Now according to my math department, even with a 40% discount that’s still way more than I should be spending.
Gee, I wonder why they’re going out of business. I’m so shocked!
Selling the exact same merchandise at insanely higher prices than other stores, RIDICULOUS! They should be ashamed of themselves, I mean is that stuff better just because it came from Borders?!
Doesn’t River Glass Designs sell the same Frameless Showers at higher prices than other places?
WHAT?!?!!!

Well, let me help you understand something, yes, we’re not the cheapest when it comes to Frameless Showers…and that’s a good thing.

Do you like orange juice? Of course you do! Unless your some kind of silly head or something.
I bet you even have a favorite brand…What is it? Wait! On the count of 3 say it out loud.

Now apologize to whoever’s around you. Because no one knows what you’re doing, because no one reads this blog.
Back to the topic at hand: I also bet if I told you that orange juice is orange juice, if I said it’s all the same and all tastes the same, you would wholeheartedly disagree – wouldn’t you?
In fact you would no doubt argue that your favorite is the best, offering some sort of awkward explanation, which would only make you seem crazy and prove that you have way too much free time.
I would also bet there’s been an instance where money was tight and you figured you’d just get that generic brand of orange juice. BIG MISTAKE! Which I’m sure you immediately realized as you took your first sip of the orange flavored battery acid with an aftertaste to match.
But it does help you see that sometimes, it’s better to spend a little more to get the good stuff.
Frameless Showers, Mirrors, and this business we call glass is the same. Like orange juice there’s a ton of choices, but only you can decide what’s best for you. We can all try and convince you whose best or what’s best, but I’m sure it can, at times, make us, sound crazy. Glass is glass. It’s the experience that differs.
You can go for the cheap stuff, but prepare for the aftertaste. Or you can spring for the premium. Now I would love to be able to say: “River Glass Designs is the premium, the only premium!”
But that’s not true, there are others, companies who also love this industry and do their utmost to provide beautiful quality products. Even still, we would love to give you a taste of our service and workmanship. So give us a call, shoot us an email or drop by the showroom.

Weight Loss

Weight Loss…
It’s becoming ever popular. It used to just be Richard Simmons sweatin to the oldies., while the rest of us ate pizza, chili dogs, and played Nintendo.
But what started with one flamboyant man dancing to the temptations, turned into to Tai-Bo, which gave way to our current situation: Atkins, Hip Hop Abs, P90X, my personal favorite: Flirty Fitness, The Biggest Loser and of course Globo Gym!
Everyone wants to be in shape – my goal is a circle or sphere!
However, even I have to admit, that getting in shape is contagious. Like yawning or dengue fever. Everyone here at River Glass Designs has caught the fever. We’ve made it our goal to eat right and become physically fit. Or maybe I should say want to be able to physically fit into our clothes. If I’m being honest and I’m not, we’ve all become a little jealous of Justin – he’s the “skinny” one.
We’re not envious of how he looks or anything, he’s no George Clooney, he’s not even George Lopez. Just kidding he’s very attractive tolerable. It’s more a jealousy of things skinny people can do. Like wearing t-shirts, going swimming, shopping at Banana Republic and kissing Whitney…
…Wait…I mean um…Well what I meant to say is that…Never mind! Moving On…

We’re Back…

Well the New Year has begun and now it’s back to work, back to school, back to life. However it was nice having a little break the last couple of weeks.
But in the words of Soul II Soul “Back to Life, Back to Reality.”
