Lets Celebrate....Good Times...COME ON!

Today was to be a very special blog that led off with a Redskins victory and was followed by a very special look at two River Glass Designs couples.

The Redskins obviously had other ideas. To be honest though, I commend them for falling to 2-1, 3-0 sounds so pretentious! But there were two things that offered a silver lining last night. 1) After weeks of deciding what type of Quarterback to be, Rex Grossman has, simply, decided to be himself. And isn’t that what we want from everyone, for them to just be themselves…2) and this is the important one, both teams were able to bring national attention to the FGA – Field Goal Awareness. In fact I hear the organization is working on taglines right now. Some front runners are Field Goals: They’re points Too! And my personal favorite: Field Goals, Not Just Because You Have To, But Because You Want To!

But enough about that let’s get to the really good stuff. We want to give a, very special, congratulations to two couples who celebrated their anniversaries.

Frist, Gary (our owner) and Diane (his boss) celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Sunday. 35 YEARS! Their marriage is older than most of our employees! Now if you’re wondering what these two are like – Diane is a sweet, soft spoken kind hearted women and Gary is a fun loving, fair and honest man. And if you’re thinking the only reason I’m saying those nice things, is because they sign my checks, then you would be wrong! But it is the main reason…

The other special couple is Megan (my girlfriend) and Jamie (it’s a soft J) who celebrated their anniversary on Monday. Megan is Gary and Diane’s daughter. Now I know what you’re thinking how could Megan marry Hi’may when she clearly loves me. Well we both decided it would be for the best that she marries Jamella, since she and I work together and will still see each other every day. But in all seriousness, they have been married for the last 7 years and two beautiful children. And soon Megan will return to work, here I the office, once again completing our work family.

So Happy Anniversary Megan and Jaymee…keep on um…keep on truckin!

And Happy Anniversary Gary and Diane…keep the paychecks comin!

You’re Welcome!

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Youre Welcome! The Redskins are great Humanitarians. They don’t just donate to charities and sponsor football camps for kids though – when they see someone in immediate need, they help. The Rams had lost 27 of their last 28 games, they hadn’t won at home since 2008. The Redskins decided enough was enough.

The Skins knew what it was to be a big fat loser, to have the home crowd turn against you. They would not let this happen to their football brethren. They would do the noble thing – immediately going down 14 nothing. Fearing the Rams would figure out what they were trying to do, they had to put up points and fast. They scored 16 unanswered. That’s when disaster struck. Steven Jackson, the Rams stud running back left the game because of injury – it was up to the Skins to make Kenneth Darby, Jackson’s backup look like a star, and they did just that.

In the end the Redskins Humanitarian effort was a huge success – the Rams got their home victory – but the Redskins got something better, a sense of honor and pride. Sometimes when you Lose you really Win!

Special Spotlight on DeAngelo Hall for “slipping and falling” – good one D, they never suspected a thing.

Hold On A Second

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Hold On A SecondThe Skins were winning  13 – 7.

They took the lead and kept it for 4 quarters. But there opponent still had life. Of course when you’re playing a team like the Dallas Cowboys there is no such thing as an easy win. In fact it was now 3rd and 10 from the 13. 3 seconds left on the clock – time for one last play.

No! 3 seconds left on the clock – time for one last defensive stand!

The ball leaves Andre Gurode’s hands and hits Romo’s. Like a bolt of lightning Orakpo is there, the sack is milliseconds away from ending the game. Somehow Romo twists, turns and slips away, he’s free, big problem – because now Roy Williams is wide open in the bottom corner of the end zone. Williams is already 8 feet taller than the skins corners, which makes what happens next unimpressive. Romo fires the ball as Williams makes an effortless catch as time expires.

Hearts, Hopes, Dreams all break at once.

And then like a yellow angel the flag floated onto the field. Everything stops instantly, 90,000 people go silent…

“Holding, Offense #71!”

90,000 people erupt in excitement.

Game Over. Victory #1… 15 to go.

Hold On A Second

This Is It! Maybe…

This Is It! Maybe...

In 109 days the Washington Redskins will face the Buffalo Bills in their first preseason game and for the first time in a while fans seem a bit excited about this team. Armed now with an elite quarterback, but even more so, adding depth where needed, using both their first and last pick in Thursdays draft to add youth and strength to the O-Line. This year we could finally see the Washington Redskins fans remember, the Washington Redskins fans have been waiting for, the Washington Redskins fans deserve…

This Is It! Maybe...

Or they could just stink the joint up for another 16 games…
