Man Down!

It has attracted many men.
Initially, with the promise of land, freedom and gold.
The promise now is similar, but we call it fortune and fame.
Still many have headed west in search of something more. Some find it, and some find that they already had it all along.
Well, this year the temptress that is California claims one of our very own. One Mr. Justin Stanfield. That’s right, the kid with the so-so face and the hot wife is headed to tinsel town.
Over the years Justin has not just proven his value to River Glass Designs, the company, but even more so to River Glass Designs, the family. We all love him and will miss him more than he knows. We anxiously await his return…In fact I’ve been dreaming about it… I can see it as clear as day…
…We’re racing thru opposite ends of the forest, until we both come to a clearing. Our eyes meet from across the meadow and we begin racing toward each other. The distance is small but, it seemingly takes a lifetime to close the gap between us. Our hands finally touch and we dance in circles, knowing true happiness in that instance. Then I immediately begin to have a massive asthma attack, since I have no business running and dancing in a field filled with flowers. And as the pollen begins to fill my lungs, I take my last breath…
But wait! A small glowing finger touches me and once again I began to breath. Completely reinvigorated, I high five the little brown alien who has just saved my life. Then he tells me to phone home…and I say to him: “I will phone home my friend…I will phone home…

Birth Of The Frameless Shower?

It was no simple bathroom. The Duchess of Latveria spent years picking out every detail. The last thing she would focus her intricate attention on, was the shower. Her vision was as clear as a summer sky, reality was not. Glass had never been cut, formed, molded or even thought of , in the ways her mind did. It would be a daunting task. After the failures of some of the most sought after craftsmen, hope seemed to fade. Until he showed up. His name: Norrin Radd. Over the next few months he would hand craft the Duchess vision and create the gateway to the modern frameless shower…
Not even close! In fact about 75% of that story is lies and by 75% I mean 100% of that story is lies.
So I don’t know who invented the Frameless Shower, so what!
Am I suppose to know that since I’m in the Frameless Shower business.
Your Company is named River Glass Designs…Glass is right there in the name, you should know these things.
Well for your information I did a ton of research to try and find out who invented the Frameless Shower and I couldn’t find diddly squat on Wikipedia.
Besides do all of you computer people know who invented the computer…
…well that was an easy one, everyone knows it was Best Buy.
Pizza people?
Oh yeah…I forgot,
… Sbarro.
Well I bet none of you know who invented …uh…uh…Karate!

Let’s Celebrate….Good Times…COME ON!

Today was to be a very special blog that led off with a Redskins victory and was followed by a very special look at two River Glass Designs couples.
The Redskins obviously had other ideas. To be honest though, I commend them for falling to 2-1, 3-0 sounds so pretentious! But there were two things that offered a silver lining last night. 1) After weeks of deciding what type of Quarterback to be, Rex Grossman has, simply, decided to be himself. And isn’t that what we want from everyone, for them to just be themselves…2) and this is the important one, both teams were able to bring national attention to the FGA – Field Goal Awareness. In fact I hear the organization is working on taglines right now. Some front runners are Field Goals: They’re points Too! And my personal favorite: Field Goals, Not Just Because You Have To, But Because You Want To!
But enough about that let’s get to the really good stuff. We want to give a, very special, congratulations to two couples who celebrated their anniversaries.
Frist, Gary (our owner) and Diane (his boss) celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Sunday. 35 YEARS! Their marriage is older than most of our employees! Now if you’re wondering what these two are like – Diane is a sweet, soft spoken kind hearted women and Gary is a fun loving, fair and honest man. And if you’re thinking the only reason I’m saying those nice things, is because they sign my checks, then you would be wrong! But it is the main reason…
The other special couple is Megan (my girlfriend) and Jamie (it’s a soft J) who celebrated their anniversary on Monday. Megan is Gary and Diane’s daughter. Now I know what you’re thinking how could Megan marry Hi’may when she clearly loves me. Well we both decided it would be for the best that she marries Jamella, since she and I work together and will still see each other every day. But in all seriousness, they have been married for the last 7 years and two beautiful children. And soon Megan will return to work, here I the office, once again completing our work family.
So Happy Anniversary Megan and Jaymee…keep on um…keep on truckin!
And Happy Anniversary Gary and Diane…keep the paychecks comin!

Superb!

Superb.
It is defined as being marked with grandeur, excellence, brilliance or competence. Now I would love to strut around town telling everyone River Glass Designs does superb work. However it seems that people find it rude when you “toot your own horn” so to speak. And don’t even get me started on the reaction I get when I strut around. The negative stuff I don’t mind, but all the whistling and cat calls, it gets embarrassing. So I’m left with a bit of a dilemma, how do I get the word out to everyone that River Glass Designs is indeed superb.
Hmmm…
I could make a video with a cute kitten playing in a tree, and then it falls out of the tree but instead of hitting the ground… it flies away… into space…because it’s a super space cat… and when he gets to space he meets up with his best friend a super space dog named Barks McGee and together they protect the universe from the evil teddy bears of planet Nebulon, whose only desire is to turn our planet into a giant marshmallow, but that’s not gonna happen! No it’s not! Not with Whiskers Tabington and Barks McGee on our side!
Or I could get a football player to endorse us…
Yeah, someone with a Super Bowl ring or even better a Super Bowl MVP, yeah a Super Bowl MVP, Hall of Fame Running Back, instantly recognized by football fans the world over… Now who could we get…

Since We’ve Been Gone!

The long unnecessary, but much enjoyed hiatus is over. It’s been quite some time since we’ve spoken to each other and a lot has happened since then.
My sister Britani got married and I have a new nephew and niece (not Britani’s).
John and Gary went to England and Spain and then skiing and then skiing again (must be nice).
Justin went to Costa Rica and rented a car while he was there ( evidently that’s a big deal ).
Megan is now pregnant with her second child and our new estimator Jonathan got a Kinect by Xbox. Now I know what you’re thinking: “Why would we hire a child to be an estimator?”
We Didn’t! Jonathan is a grown man with no kids and still decided to get a Kinect. Puzzling, isn’t it?
But then again he does bring lunchables and hot pockets for lunch, so maybe he’s just a kid at heart.
Well, this ManChild has over 10 years of experience under his belt. He has installed everything from beautiful frameless showers and mirrors down to the very glass in our storefront. His experience, his will to learn and above all else his genuine likeability make him the perfect fit for the River Glass Designs Team. With the addition of Jonathan we can now offer free home estimates for your glass project Monday thru Friday.
So together let’s make 2011 the glassiest year ever! See what I did there… Instead of classiest I said glassiest … pretty good huh?
